The Softbot project
sought to use planning techniques to raise the level of the user interface,
allowing users to say what
they wanted with the Softbot determining how
and when
to accomplish those goals. But is it easier for users to specify goals than to
perform the tasks themselves? We review some of the Softbot project’s
contributions and describe the current research directions stemming from the
project.
