Biography

Qiong Luo is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Her research interests are in big data systems, parallel and distributed systems, and data-intensive applications. Current focus is on data management on modern hardware, GPU acceleration for data analytics, and data processing support for e-science. Qiong received her Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her M.S. and B.S. in Computer Sciences from Beijing (Peking) University, China.

What's New

I am recruiting PhD students in the CSE Program in Hong Kong and the DSA Program in Guangzhou for the Fall semesters of 2024 and 2025.

I gave a keynote talk (slides) on GPU Acceleration for Data Processing and Analytics at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Big Data at Sorrento, Italy on December 17, 2023.

I am on leave from CSE and am serving as a Professor of Data Science and Analytics (DSA) at the newly estabilished HKUST (Guangzhou) campus. My HKUST (Guangzhou) Faculty Profile is up. DSA is recruiting both faculty members and PhD students.
