  • Member of the University Council                                              1/05 – 2008
    • Only 3 members are elected to join the council from amongst all senate members of the University. The election is conducted by the Senate members.
    • The Council is the supreme governing and executive body of the University. It exercises the powers and duties of the University as specified in the ordinance. It is responsible among other important things for investments, contracts, property, appointments, budget, finance, making of statues, etc.
    • Currently, the coucil membership consists of 18 external members and 11 internal members (only three among these are elected by the Senate).
     
  • Member of the University Senate      (member-at-large)                            1/01 – 2008
    • Elected three times by the full academic staff – each time with the highest number of votes.
    • The Senate is the Supreme Academic Body of the University. It is responsible for setting academic policies. I was among only three faculty members of the University that have been elected to represent ALL academic staff. Other Senate members are either de-facto members or representing a smaller body of the faculty (e.g., School of Science).
     
  • Member, University Research Committee                                    1/10 – Present
    • Representing the Heads of the School of Engineering
    • The University Research Committee deals with the initiation, conduct, administration, and evaluation of research activities throughout the University. It also deals with the involvement of students and staff in research and service activities
     
  • Member, University Undergraduate Studies Committee                      1/00 – 12/02
    • Elected by the Engineering School Board as a representative of the School of Engineering
    • The University Undergraduate Studies Committee advises and makes recommendations to the University Senate on policies and regulations, and monitors and reviews procedures, quality and performance relating to all matters of undergraduate studies.
     
  • Member, University Teaching & Learning Quality Committee                  1/00 – 12/02,1/07 - Present
    • Elected by the Engineering School Board as a representative of the School of Engineering
    • The University Teaching & Learning Quality Committee advises and makes recommendations to the University Senate on policies and regulations relating to quality assurance of teaching and learning, and promotes the quality of teaching and learning, and monitors the operation of related quality assurance processes.

    • Representative of the School of Engineering
    • The University OBE Steering Committee is to advise and make recommendations to the University Senate and school  on all matters concerning the adoption, activities, and implementation of the outcome based education for the whole university.
     
  • Member, University Scholarship Committee                                1/98 – 9/99
    • Elected by the Engineering School Board as a representative of the School of Engineering
    • The University Scholarship Committee is to advise and make recommendations to the University Senate on all matters concerning the administration of scholarships, prizes and other funds that are awarded mainly on academic merit in the University.
