Over the past two decades, electronic games have become very popular. Large game development companies such as KOEI, CAPCOM and Ubisoft earn large profits each year. Owing to the bright future of computer games, it is good for us to learn how to develop a game, which can help us in finding jobs associated with the game and graphics industries in the future. In our project, we implemented a computer game, which is called "Bomber War". This is a network-based game, which means it has to be played through network, for instance, LAN or Internet. Nowadays, the Internet is widely used, and the potential markets for network-based computer games are very large. Knowing how to develop a network game is an important step to enter this huge market! |

The academic value for this project is not only to learn the graphics and network programming techniques, but more importantly, this project provides a chance to learn how to work with different people. The major challenge of the project is to design a fun, attractive and exciting network game and the implementation part of the game. |

In this project, we have learnt more than what we expected. Choosing this topic is our interest, so we all do it with great fun, although there may be hard times, but now everything is gone. The only thing left is the best memory. In this project, most of the problems we encountered are related to DirectX since it is quite new to us. Finally with the help of reference books and simple examples from some resources, we developed a better understanding of it and solved all the problems we faced. |

If we had more time, we could extend our game to include a single player mode for the game so that when there is no other player in the network, a player can fight with an AI computer. Also many minor functions can be added into the game such as we could create more funny scenery battlefields for them to choose. We can create more new interesting items in the game, e.g. when the player "collects" an item, it will freeze the opponent's player for a few seconds. Lastly, what we think of is that maybe that we can make the game allow multiplayers at the same time in the battlefield. It must be more fun. |
