Visual browsing of high-dimensional HTML tables

When browsing on the web, we often come across tables that are extremely large, high-dimensional HTML tables. They do not fit into a typical window and because they are high-dimensional, traditional two-dimensional browsing is not very helpful.

The aim of this project is to discover or develop, from previous work, techniques for displaying large, high-dimesional tables so that browsing is easier (according to an appropriate measure) and more user friendly. For example, we can view three dimensions by using the clothes-line technique; we can reduce a high-dimensional table into a three-dimensional table or even a two-dimensional table for ease of browsng; etc.

This project is open-ended and configurable to students' interests.

Number of students: TWO or THREE

Knowledge required

You need to know C++ and JAVA and, I am sure, you will need to learn other software tools on the fly.

Value to the student

This project will be a useful experience for students who intend to pursue a career in the software or information-technology industry.
