The Metropolis of Hong Kong and Southeast Asia is based in Hong Kong and was established by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Holy and Great Synod of Constantinople in November of 1996. In December of the same year, Archmandrite Nikitas Lulias was elected the first Metropolitan and he was enthroned in Hong Kong in January, 1997.
