COURSE DESCRIPTION: The techniques for synthesizing music in software synthesis, soundcards, hardware synthesizers, and mobile phones. Topics include: music representation, music theory, musical acoustics, spectral analysis, sound synthesis, sound modification techniques and effects, MIDI, music information retrieval, musical instrument recognition, music on mobile phones. No previous musical background required.
